Take 2 prime box tickets to the Carnegie Hall concert to see the Boston Pops Orchestra with Time for Three on Thursday March 8 2012 at 8pm PLUS 2 tickets to the private reception after the concert with the artists at Trattoria dell'Arte Bomarza.
The Boston Pops returns to Carnegie Hall under the direction of Keith Lockhart with a program that includes the New York premiere of Chris Brubeck's Travels in Time for Three, featuring the groundbreaking Time for Three trio, as well as a tribute to the legendary Benny Goodman.
Time for Three started as a trio of musicians who would play together for fun while they were students at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. At their first major gig in 2003, a lightning storm shut down power at the Mann Center, where they were performing. While the crew was scrambling to fix the onstage lighting, they improvised an all-acoustic jam session in the dark. (This is where they say, "and the crowd went wild!") And that's pretty much their creation story. Now they get to perform at venues all over the world, from clubs to concert halls, and spend lots of time mentoring the next generation of classical musicians.
Easily accessible from the Parquet level of Stern/Perelman, Trattoria dell'Arte Bomarza is the perfect place for a pre-concert drink or bite to eat, across from Carnegie Hall, featuring the largest antipasto bar in New York, a sprawling selection of seafood and vegetable specialties perfect for parties of all sizes. Designed after a Tuscan artist’s studio, the rooms include half-finished paintings, oversized sculptures of fragmented body parts, a gallery of Italian noses, a wine cellar dining room, and a candle-filled private room.
Carnegie Hall’s mission is to present extraordinary music and musicians on the three stages of this legendary hall, to bring the transformative power of music to the widest possible audience, to provide visionary education programs, and to foster the future of music through the cultivation of new works, artists, and audiences.
